Hangin’ Out! Author Interview with Dwayne Fry

Image
Thanks to social media and the growing globalization of every aspect of our lives, it seems that every day, week, and month is designed to honor everything from waffles to presidents. May is no different. May the fourth holds a special place for fans of Star Wars and puns, likewise the eighth of May gets a gritty giggle from fans of Motörhead and puns. But the entire month of May is dedicated to short stories and I can’t think of a medium more deserving of its own month of celebration. According to the website for the organization that started Short Story Month , we are at the dawn of a new golden era for short storytelling and I agree. As such, I sat down with Dwayne Fry to get inside the mind of a short story master. Dwayne is an indie author with more than thirty short works and collections published in a wide variety of genres ranging from lighthearted comedy to serious literary fiction that tackles tough issues. He is also fellow Vonnegut fan and a super fantastic guy, so rea...

Falling to Pieces

Well, the blog isn't so much falling to pieces as it is fading into obscurity, but I happen to have that particular Faith No More song stuck in my head so, there's that. It has come to my attention that I have again become woefully neglectful of my blog. I'd like to say that this is all going to change and I've got a ton of witty things to say about a whole bunch of witty subjects, but nah, not so much. You see, in addition to being very much in between projects at the moment, I've got a whole lot of real life messing with me. A whole lot. But that doesn't mean I've given up and plan to fade into obscurity, living off the riches of Indie publishing. No, I have loads planned. Currently, I've got the Discordant series box set in production. I'm hoping to have that on preorder by the end of the week. My next series (a trilogy, most likely) is in production, but I'm afraid I've not had a whole lot of time to devote to it, but positive feedbac...

My Grammar and You're* Grammar, Sittin' by the...

Image
I've noticed something. I tend to start blog posts with the phrase: "If you read this blog, you probably know..." And then go on to say something about myself that you would likely know. Not this time. This time, I'm going to impart some wisdom about me and then I'm going to impart some general knowledge that you should already know, which will contradict what I just told you about me. Confused? Good! Let's begin! You probably don't know this about me, but I'm not a big fan of grammar snobbery. I'm even less of a fan of people who point out that others are using words wrong. Especially on the internet. I know there might still be some folks out there using computers, but personally, my social media usage is via mobile device only and let's face it, autocorrect is not the artificial intelligence that will one day take over the world. Ducking help, it's not! Correcting someone else's grammar is going to at best make you look like a je...

Blog Takeover: A Message from Ann Livi Andrews, Supreme Overlord of the SIA

Image
Hi Everyone! Today I'm handing the blog off to Ann, the Supreme Overlord of Support Indie Authors. As this post is aimed at authors, I expect many of you might ignore it, which is fine, but perhaps if you do read it, you'll see why this group means so much to me. I'm really not the only person out there who likes to keep things positive. And now, a brief message from your Supreme Overlord For those of you wondering who on earth I am and are raising your eyebrows at the Supreme Overlord reference, my name is Ann Livi Andrews and I run Support for Indie Authors, SIA for short (no relation to the Australian singer). What started as a small idea in January 2015 has quickly turned into a vast wealth of support, encouragement, resources, etc for Indie Authors. We have now grown to 5,000+ members and having outgrown Goodreads, we began our own website (www.supportindieauthors.com) dedicated to helping Indie Authors be the best they can be. We are now 13 Moderators s...
