I've Been Doing This For How Long?

This November marks the fifth anniversary of the publishing of The Eyes of The Sun.

To say that this is a pretty big deal for me would be an understatement. On the contrary, I'm blown away by a good number of things this represents. Not the least of which would be the overwhelmingly positive response I've received for my crazy ramblings. This isn't false modesty. I'm rather proud of all my creations and personally, I think they're rather good. But for other people to also share in the enjoyment of that which my brain has decided to let loose gives me indescribable happiness.

And if I can continue being immodest for a moment, I have to say, five years ago, as I was preparing to publish what would be my first indie ebook ever, I had no idea I'd have the ability to do it again. And yet here we are, five years later, and I've got two completed series and another half done, three standalone novels, three short stories, and more ideas in my head than I can possibly think to finish in the near future. It all kind of baffles me, to be honest.

And as I sit here and pat myself on the back for a job well done, I keep thinking that I should have something profound to say. Well, I don't. You see, that's one of the funny things about me. I can write books, but I can't really write about writing. This was something I learned mostly through keeping an author blog for nearly as long as I've been published. What is there to say except that I string words together in a hopefully entertaining way?

So instead, I'm going to address why I'm writing my five year anniversary post two months early. It's simple, really: I'm having a sale. You see the great thing about my weird little sci-fi vampire tale is that it fits well with the onset of fall and spooky season, even if my vamps are a little different from Dracula and his ilk. So this coming Thursday and Friday (21st & 22nd), the whole series is on sale. The first book is free and the other two are 99¢ each.

But that doesn't mean I'm doing nothing in November. On the contrary, that's when I'll be releasing The Princess Rebellion, book two of The Kyroibi Trilogy. Look for a cover reveal, excerpts, and teasers in the next month leading up to that, but for now, let's shift the focus back from robots to vampires (Alas! I knew there was a reason I picked this domain and not some stuffy thing about me being an author!)

At one point, I thought I might revisit the super-secret world of The Eyes of The Sun. I considered doing a few more prequel stories, but ultimately decided against that because for one, Dissonant, despite being well received, does not seem to move much at all, and two, I don't think there is a way to do this that doesn't require me to spill some secrets about certain characters whose mysterious background keeps them interesting.

But...

Even thought I dislike writing about writing, I can write about my creations all day. Instead of writing more prequels, or moving on to the next generation of sci-fi vampire hunters, why don't you help me fill in the blanks? Yes, you! If you've got any questions about the series, whether it's to ask about Miles and his mysterious government ties, what's next for Lucy, or just to get Ida's recipes, ask them here, in the comments. I'll answer everything in an ongoing thread added to the book bonus pages, adding the spoiler warnings as needed.

Sound like fun? Then Let's do this!

These last five years have been great and I thank you for coming along for the ride. Here's hoping I've got at least five more. Okay, who am I kidding? If I live to 100, I probably won' finish writing everything that's in my head. 😀
